This limited-edition set of four drinking glasses featuring artwork by Roy Lichtenstein was produced in collaboration with the Art Production Fund and the Estate of Roy Lichtenstein. Originally released in partnership with Barneys New York in 2013, the design for the glasses is based on Lichtenstein’s Drawing for Paper Cup, translating the 1967 drawing of a flattened cup into three dimensions.
Featuring the artist’s iconic Benday dot designs, these functional objects extend his commentary on images from popular culture into the domestic realm, paying homage to American consumerism. Casey Fremont, director of the Art Production Fund, described the projects produced by the organization as “an extension of the idea of public art” that allow people to become familiar with an artist’s work by living with it.
