Product Description
Lod, also called Lydda, city, central Israel, on the Plain of Sharon southeast of Tel Aviv–Yafo. It is the traditional site of the martyrdom of St. George; the alleged tomb of the saint is still shown. In the partition plan of 1947, Lod was allocated to an Arab state in Palestine, but it was captured by Israel in 1948.
