Rare and beautiful Early American pressed glass pitcher made by Richards and Hartley around 1880. It features a bead-framed cameo with the goddess Venus walking with Cupid holding fast to the folds of her gown. There is enough decorative trim to accent but not overwhelm the classic lines in the design of this footed pitcher. Like most pitchers of the time, this one stands 9 inches tall, 9 1/2 with the kick-up of the spout and it is almost 9 inches handle to spout with a reservoir 5 1/4 inches in diameter. The glass is not without issues, all but one of them is the way it came out of the mold and the other is a small abrasion just above one of the cameos (see photo).
